An important topic that’s easily missed. Thanks so much for the video!
When shipping older versions, users should be made aware of this.
Personally, I’m not a big fan of GNOME’s decision to disallow theming— to accept only LibAdwaita. I think users should be able to theme their applications.

Weird that it's always GNOME applications experiencing this. I wonder why KDE/Qt or even other GTK applications never have to deal with this problem. /s

Skyrim actually is a great example: I olayed multiple timrs over the years on PC and it is - feature wise, UI wise - a bad game. It is not a good experience, if you do not use mods.

Similar to the new philosophy of Gnome changing the capabilities if their own apps to become worse to comply with a plan to make everythimg better in other regards. I see that this had a major push towards those of us that do not want to adapt to these changes quickly, including users and developers.

The current situation is not fixable I guess. I do agree that the support URLs should not point to Gnome anymore, and if adaptations to the old software was made, a rebranding would be fair. Pointing to Gnome, they did a bad job in the first place, is Kindergarten.

However as a resource is scare to adapt all those applicarions, that might not be something you just do over night. Also we could request from Gnome that they rebrand their tools once they do a major shift in their design philosophy, which makes it hard for others to adapt. Not that I think they should but it basically is the same argument. It is to illustrate that this is not really solvable by arguments on either side.

Pragmatic opinion: replace the support URLs and point to a side addressing the problem with solutions, that range from switch distros or become a developer and fix the issues in Mint or Gnome, so you as a user can build your own Roadmap on how you want to address it. But in an honest way without pointing at each other.
